About the event
If you want the things that matter to you to matter to more people, this toolkit will transform your programs!
This course is for anyone who leads talks or programs to audiences including: tour leaders and guides, park rangers, educators, clergy, sales and marketing, change managers, social marketers, coaches and mentors, storytellers, writers, content creators, and more. The optional certificate requires completion of three things: 1. attend all classes synchronously, 2. create a program outline, 3. deliver a 10 minute interpretive presentation The course is highly interactive and creates a community of learning with the students. Anyone 16 + is welcome. All experience levels are welcome from newcomer to veteran, and from front line staff to the leaders who support them.
The CIG Program
The nationally recognized Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) program is designed for anyone who delivers talks, walks, tours, or other live messaging who wants those talk to connect, inspire, and provoke thought. The course combines the theoretical foundations of the profession with practical strategies in delivering quality interpretive programming to visitors.
This virtual course includes:
* What interpretation is and how it enriches other types of speaking and guiding.
* Connecting to organizational purpose and using S.M.A.R.T goals and objectives
* How relevance and enjoyability make programs memorable and invite listeners to make personal connections
* How to use theme to keep you focused on your 'big why' and your audience engaged with your purpose
* Presentation techniques that empower your to find and make the most of your personal style.
Dates and times:
The CIG class is a mix of instruction, discussion, group and individual work time as well as breaks.
October 21, 22, 23,and 24thh: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. MT. Instruction, work time, breaks, and coaching.
Ocotber 25th: 9:00 a.m. - 3: 00 p.m. Final presentations are 10 minute presentations for those attempting certification.
